But not a surprise for me too. I think the divorce should be the final step, when there is no other. As you say, they have so many opportunities to stray, but I think it also has a lot to do with their egocentric personalities. They just have to be the center of attention wherever they go, so I think they get very jealous of their partners if they are celebrities as well - particularly if they get more attention than they do! Since it's pretty much a given that both celebs in a relationship won't remain equally successful throughout the duration of their relationship, one of the pair is inevitably going to become very resentful indeed at some stage.
